2015 was an all time record breaking year for us, all thanks to you, our supporters and visitors! As we’re counting down to 2016 here’s an overview of this year’s articles you liked the most.

1.EUROPE’S OLDEST LEATHER BAR CLOSES THIS FRIDAY

Argos interiorThe world, and our mailbox, seemed to small when we announced the closure of the Amsterdam Argos in January. You have been tremendously supportive by sending us your Argos stories and memories, which eventually led to a new article in our Library: The History of the Amsterdam Argos (1957-2015). (Note, Library items are not available to mobile users at this moment.)

2. PATRICK SMITH WINS IML37, IRELAND FIRST RUNNER-UP, PROPOSES ON STAGE

01_iml2015grpPatrick Smith might have won IML but Kevin Murphy became Europe’s Mister Darling after his excellent performance in Chicago. We expect Kevin to get lots of votes for the Man of The Year X Award, and rightfully so!

3. VOTE NOW FOR THE 2015 X AWARDS!

cutxawardsOver 3000 people from all around the world voted for last year’s X Awards and more are even expected to do this year as there is now an X Award Committee and a new voting system.

Check out this year’s winners or go and vote for next year’s edition!

 4. LEATHER IN EUROPE IN 2014

bannerThere are more ways to share leather history than through exhibitions or articles. Our fact sheet about Leather in Europe in 2014 became a popular download and thanks to Mister B we were able to print a few thousand copies which were handed out at the Darklands festival in Belgium.

5. UPDATE: BDSM NO LONGER A DISEASE IN ICELAND

Mister B adIn a world where fetish and bdsm seem to have accepted by pop culture, we easily forget many countries still consider bdsm to be violence. Iceland made headlines when the Icelandic Directorate of Health issued an official recommendation for bdsm to be declassified as a disease.

We look forward to see you back in 2016!
