The US debate concerning unions has spread to IML33 as the Unite H.E.R.E Local 1 hotel workers union, recently saw this year’s International Mr Leather event as a target to boycott in a conflict between the union and the Hyatt Regency hotel .
According to a statement, issued by R.J. Chaffin, IML coordinator, the union has sent out letters and made phone calls to members of the IML family concerning a boycott of the IML weekend.
In his statement Chaffin explains how the IML organisation was asked to abandon the Hyatt this year in support of the union’s campaign. Even though the organisation did feel sympathetic to the issues raised by the union, IML declined to drop out of the Hyatt as contracts had been signed long before and the organisation wouldn’t be able to deal with financial and practical consequences.
Most importantly, in response to questions raised by visitors and vendors, Chaffin assures that “IML will go on this Memorial Day Weekend, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel“.
Visitors and vendors who have questions concerning this matter are urged to contact the coordinator.
